Thursday, April 29, 2021---USC TGLA General Meeting

02After a short Social segment, USC TGLA President Terri Boyle called the Zoom meeting to order. Here is my snip of the members who were in attendance at 10:15 am.

The business meeting segment was completed quickly. All former TGLA Presidents were honored. Then, there was the Installation of Elected and Appointed 2021-2022 Officers. Chairwoman of the TGLA Nominating Committee Sandy Johnston, Nikki Dana and Cheryl Schwartz wore red hats while they participated in the installation. Trojan Candy has already posted a picture of the TGLA "Elected Positions" for 2021-2022 in my February 4, 2021, Floral Demonstration Meeting. Mr. Eads is the CEO of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. His presentation was fantastically thorough! Trojan Candy took many snips of his presentation. Sorry that some of the slides were clipped. ENJOY his presentation!

Thursday, February 4, 2021---USC TGLA "Floral Demonstration" Meeting

Since our USC TGLA meeting was scheduled so close to Valentine Day, "Floral Demonstration", the topic of our meeting, was very appropriate. After the 9:45 am Social, the meeting started around 10:15 am. Trojan Candy took two snips of all the members in attendance.

The main business of our meeting was the election of the 2021-2022 USC TGLA Executive Board of Officers. Nominations Chair Sandy Johnston announced the candidates.

After the election was finished, there were a few Executive Board reports. VP Scholarship Andrea Maxie noted that Scholarship applications were due February 1st. Then VP Membership Sandy Johnston introduced three guests.

Now, it was time for Christine Ofiesh to introduce our Guest Presenter Marina Santos, the Manager of Jacob Maarse Floral Design.

Marina welcomed everyone and then introduced her assistant Nicho.

Nicho started making a tropical design.

Marina told us that he will cut all of the flowers at an angle. Some of the flowers that Nicho cut were Thailand ginger, cymbidum orchid, and haliconia that is also known as Lobster-Claws.

Lucky USC TGLA member Marilyn Kezirian won the tropical design flower arrangement.

Marina introduced another assistant Heidi.

She used the floral foam Oasis to make a second arrangement. Heidi added a hazel branch.

Finally Heidi added a cymbidum orchid to finish her Oasis.

Our proposed slate of Board members will be sent out to the entire membership for voting on at a general meeting. Until then, keep FIGHTING ON!
