Trojan Candy arrived early at the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena. The parking lot was nearly empty. However, I saw a familiar face as I walked by her car. TGLA Vice-President of Programs Mary Hall, who organized this general meeting, smiled at me and got out of her car. We walked into the museum together. While Mary was setting up, I did my job...and took pictures.
Then, other TGLA members arrived. All the pictures I took of the members as they arrived are in my Google+ "TGLA at Pacific Asia Museum" album and can be accessed by CLICKING HERE.
After most of the ladies arrived, Trojan Candy took several group pictures. The tour guide Bryce Cristal took this group picture for me. Believe it or not, I am finally in a picture. Thank you, Bryce.
Here are the four tour guides. Philip Nix, Julie Thueson Pircher, Leah Kabaker and Bryce Cristal.
One of the tour guides, Julie Pircher, is a TGLA member. Many of the ladies wanted to be in her tour. Trojan Candy took the last tour with guide Philip Nix.
The museum was organized into different Asian cultures. Our tour started in the Japanese exhibits.
The last display that I have included is this "Bodhi Sattva" from Tibet. Philip described the characteristics of this Bodhi. Bodhi means "enlightenment" and Satta means "essence." His right hand extending toward earth is to show that he is beyond all desires. His left palm that is facing up means okay. Bodhi's long ears denote wisdom.
What an interesting, educational tour of the museum.
As members finished their tour, they drove to the Athenaeum located on the Caltech campus for lunch. In the museum parking lot, greeting the members as they left were four TGLA members (Judy Lieb, Cheryl Schwartz, Sandy Johnston and Cristin Moses) selling fund-raising items. Our members are always earning scholarship funds!
Trojan Candy was one of the last TGLA members to arrive at the Athenaeum. Our dining room was ornate and decorated so beautifully. The buffet table was festively decorated.
Before we ate our scrumptious lunch, our president Mary Indenbaum introduced each guest who came with a member. Trojan Candy took these pictures of each guest and her member friend.
Welcome to all our guests!
Trojan Candy's pictures of each table at the Athenaeum are in my Google+ "TGLA at Caltech Athenaeum" album. CLICK HERE to see your fellow members.
What a memorable TGLA meeting. Thank you, Mary, for all your hard work!
The annual Town and Gown Holiday meeting is always a festive occasion with many Trojan Guild members attending. Trojan Candy walked among all the decorated tables. They were stunning, as usual!
