Friday, October 27, 2023---Men's Tennis in SoCal Intercollegiate

Trojan Candy and my husband Jim were at Marks Stadium to watch our men's tennis team participate in the SoCal Intercollegiate.

Today in the Main Draw doubles round of 16, Sam Rubell and Niroop Vallabhaneni played against a Nebraska pair on Court 3.

Niroop served the ball.

Sam played net.

Niroop was ready to return a volley while Sam watched.

Niroop and Sam defeated the Nebraska pair by 6-3 to reach the Quarterfinals.

Karl Lee (3/18/3023) and Lodewijk Westrate paired against an Oregon duo.

Karl was ready to return the ball.

Lodewijk was ready to return the ball.

Unfortunately Karl and Lodewijk fell to the Oregon pair.

Next was the Main Draw singles play.

Wojtek Marek played an opponent from Arizona.

Wojtek won his match.

Karl Lee was ready to serve in his Main Draw singles.

Karl won his match against a Nebraska opponent to move on to the next round of 16.

After Karl's win, I took his picture in the stands.

I caught up with USC alumnus Ray Sarmiento (3/11/2017) who now coaches for the Nebraska tennis team.

Wojtek Marek lost in the next round of singles.

Meanwhile Karl Lee was triumphant in the second round.

Sam Rubell was victorious in both rounds of singles.

Lodewijk Westrate also won both rounds of singles.

Thursday, October 19, 2023---Basketball Tip Off Trojan HoopLA

Trojan Candy was out of town when the inaugural Men's and Women's Basketball Trojan HoopLA was held at the Galen Center. I asked two friends to take pictures for me.

My first friend was Sam Chow. Sam took a couple pictures with his iPhone 12, and his friend Johnny Chen, who came with his son, took most of the pictures with his iPhone 13 Pro Max. They were in the front row. The following are Sam’s and Johnny’s pictures and videos.

Sam also sent me three videos. In the first video taken by Johnny Chen, Caleb Williams walked to the south basket. There he was going to let freshman forward Brandon Gardner jump over him and “DUNK” the ball.

Sam took the third video, which showed our men’s basketball team leaving the court.

My second friend was Tim Seno. He sent me several pictures that he took of the Galen Big Screen. Some were of the men’s and women’s teams. He also took pictures of the artists Saweetie and Rapper YG.

What an exciting USC Basketball evening! I wish I had been there.
