Saturday, April 23, 2023---USC Men’s Tennis Senior Day
At Marks Stadium today’s men's tennis match vs Utah was also USC’s Senior Day. Today’s match was in honor of Philip Siordia. Phil has been the Men’s and Women’s Director of Operations for 33 years and is retiring after this season.
Trojan Candy was lucky to have been given permission to take videos and pictures on the tennis court from Men’s Tennis Coach Brett Masi. He also allowed my husband Jim to take videos. So both of us arrived early.
Before we walked down to the courts, we gave Philip a “going away” gift.
Trojan Candy took a picture of our friend Rudy who attends every USC Men’s Tennis home match like we try to do.
[Videos] Next, Phil escorted Jim and me down to the courts. Our men were warming up.
Then I took a picture of Brad with his parents and coaches.
Brad’s teammates joined him for this picture.
Brad’s coaches and Tennis Senior Associate Athletic Director Paul Perrier joined in this picture.
My last on-court picture shows Bradley's parents proudly holding his framed pictures gift.
So the match score was USC 1 and Utah 0.
[Videos] Now it was time to honor Phil. The Women of Troy Tennis Team joined the men’s team on the court. My two videos covered the ceremony.
The Women's tennis team joined the celebration of Philip's retirement.
Have a very Happy Retirement, Philip!
Now, the singles started.
On Court 4 Wotjek Marek won his match by 6-1, 6-3 to provide USC with a 2-0 lead in the match.
On Center Court was Stefan Dostanic. Stefan started out well, but he lost 4-6, 3-6.
At Court 6, Lodewijk Westrate won 7-5, 6-3 to give USC a 3-1 lead.
Then at Court 3, Peter Makk won his match by 6-4, 6-3 to clinch the team score at 4-1.
On Court 2, Learner Tien won 6-3 in the first set when play was suspended.
On Court 5, Senior Brad Frye won the first set by 6-2, when his match was suspended.
We won the Pac-12 Men’s Tennis Championship when we beat Utah!
Coach Masi held the Championship trophy.

My husband Jim and I arrived an hour early for the USC Beach Volleyball (BVB) match vs CSU Bakersfield and the USC Beach Volleyball Senior Salute after the match.
My first picture was of the banners on the wall in the Merle Norman Stadium.
Two friends Jeremy Wu, Associate Director of Sports Brands and Communications, and Leland Waters, the Match Announcer, posed for me.
I was able to take this nice picture of BVB Head Coach Dain Blanton.
