At the Monday Morning Quarterback (MMQ) meeting, after Coach Helton finished his presentation about the USC victory over Utah on Friday, September 20th, he opened the question session. After a few questions, everyone in the Galen Center Founder's Room saw a familiar face. John Jackson Jr. walked in the door to join us. John had been the host of Monday Morning Quarterback for years until he suffered a major stroke in December 2018. Coach Helton acknowledged John's presence and asked if John had a question for him.
With his usual big smile, John asked, "When is John Jackson III going to play?" John Jackson III is John's son. CLICK HERE FOR A PICTURE of John Jr. and John III from my blog (4/28/2016). Coach Helton only smiled at John and didn't answer his question. In a few more minutes, MMQ was over.
Trojan Candy went over to visit with my friend John Jackson, whom I first met when I was volunteering at Heritage Hall in 2009.
Since cameras are not allowed at MMQ, I used my cellphone to take this picture of John with my friend Valerie Sampson.
Then, Valerie returned the favor. She took this picture of my sister Patti Poon, myself, John and my brother-in-law Dudley Poon. It was so nice to see John and his beautiful smile again!
I could see that John has made an unbelievable recovery from his stroke, a miracle indeed, but he still has a long road to full recovery ahead. If you would like to help John in his recovery, a "Go Fund Me" account has been set up for him by David Parker. Go to www.gofundme.com/f/john-jackson-jj-usc to show your support.
Keep Fighting On, John!
My husband Jim and I arrived at the Coliseum early for our football game against Utah. We were very tired because we had to arrive early on campus for Dr. Carol Folt's Inauguration. The Coliseum was very empty, but the west side of the Coliseum was not. Fox Sports 1 had already set up a tent for their studio. Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush were preparing for their broadcast.
