Wednesday, April 17, 2019---Pac-12 Women's Championships Day 3
Jim and Trojan Candy came back for the third day of the Pac-12 Women's Championships to volunteer. We drove to Hole 16. There were only two chairs for us to sit on.
Shortly after we arrived, the Women of Troy and Stanford came to our hole. Malia Nam studied the green.
Alyaa Abdulghany teed off toward Hole 17.
Then a good friend of ours, Genaro Carapia, walked to our hole. Trojan Candy took a picture of Genaro and Jim.
Genaro took a picture of Jim and yours truly.
The next Trojan to come to Hole 16 was Allisen Corpuz. Here is Allisen making her putt.
Standing nearby were USC parents and supporters---Carlos Fernandez, Annamaria Ruffels, Srinivas Manthena and Marcos Corpuz.
Next to come was the Pac-12 Championships Award Ceremony. While Trojan Candy took pictures of the ceremony, my husband Jim stood on higher ground and took videos.
First, Trojan Candy took a picture of Alissa Giel of USC's Game Management. Alissa set up the Championships Award Ceremony behind the scenes. (9721) Thanks for all of your hard work, Alissa!
Jim's first video showed the Top Six Finishers in the Pac-12 Women's Golf Tournament. Then, the announcement of the Top Three teams was given. Third Place was Oregon. Second Place was Arizona. First Place for all three days and the tournament winner was USC.
USC Athletic Director Lynn Swann handed out the trophies. Three Trojans finished in the Top Six. They were Jennifer Chang for Sixth Place.
Allisen Corpuz won Fifth Place.
Gabriela Ruffels came in Third.
Here are the "Top Six" ladies. They were Allisen Corpuz 5th, ASU's Olivia Mehaffey Medalist, Stanford's Albane Valenzuela 2nd, Gabriela Ruffels 3rd, Jennifer Chang 6th and Arizona's Ya Chun Chang 4th.
Congratulations to the Pac-12 Women's 2019 Women's Golf Team Champions---the USC Women of Troy golfers and Coaches Stewart Burke and Justin Silverstein!
Jim's second video announced the Honorable Mention All-Americans and the All Pac-12 Conference Team. Trophies will be awarded after the season is over.
There were two USC Honorable Mention All-Americans. Allisen Corpuz was third from the left and Alyaa Abdulghany stood next to Allisen. Congratulations Allisen and Alyaa!
Four Trojans were chosen on the Pac-12 All-Conference Team. They were second from the left Gabriela Ruffels, fourth from the left Malia Nam, 8th from the left Amelia Garvey and 10th from the left Jennifer Chang. Congratulations Gabriela, Malia, Amelia and Jennifer!
With the Formal Ceremony over, Trojan Candy followed the team to another area where they really celebrated their championship!
Here is the team with Head Coach Justin Silverstein , Jennifer Chang, Gabriela Ruffels, Malia Nam, Alyaa Abdulghany, Allisen Corpuz and Associate Head Coach Stewart Burke. Congratulations again!
Tuesday, April 16, 2019---Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships Day 2
My husband Jim and I arrived earlier to the Palos Verdes Golf Club today. We were given our own golf cart, and Jim drove it to Hole 15.
Here is Jim in our cart.
I asked Jim to take a picture of me in our golf cart.
Yeah! Our Women of Troy had not yet played at Hole 15. We would get to see them play today.
Malia Nam putted at Hole 15.
Then, Malia let Trojan Candy take her picture.
The third Trojan, Jennifer Chang, smiled with a "Fight On."
Our women were the Leaders again today.
I took a close up of our banner and the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships banner.
Jim and I will be back volunteering tomorrow.
FIGHT ON, Women of Troy Golf!
What a beautiful green at Hole 6.
Since we were assigned to the afternoon session, we volunteered for only a couple of hours. Our Women of Troy had already finished Hole 6. However, back at the Club House, Trojan Candy took this picture of three of them. Allisen Corpuz, Alyaa Abdulghany and Gabriela Ruffels smiled for me.
Next, Trojan Candy saw Malia Nam's golf bag. Cute, isn't it!
Our Women of Troy finished in first place with a 283 total for the first day of the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships. FIGHT ON, Women of Troy Golf!
Jim and I will be back tomorrow.
