Saturday, September 23, 2017---USC Football at Cal
Trojan Candy went to Berkeley for the USC-Cal football game with my daughter Kelly and my oldest grandson Zane.
As we walked uphill to Memorial Stadium, Kelly and Zane looked for the USC Football Team buses. They found them parked a block from the stadium.
Inside the stadium, the teams were warming up.
Nearby my seat, Trojan Candy saw friend Scott Jacobson talking with USC alumni whom I had met in 2012 at the "State of Troy Reception" in the Uptown "W" Hotel in New York City. We were there for the USC-Syracuse football game. Naturally, I walked down the steps to take a picture of my friends Mitchell Lew, Christian, Margyn and Deena Lew, and Scott Jacobson.
After Drum Major Chris Rick thrust his sword into the "CAL" logo in the middle of the field, the Spirit of Troy performed in the pre-game show.
Since the first time that I saw the Cal Band perform at the Coliseum in 1965, Trojan Candy has always loved the Cal Band Spell Out. I took this video of their pre-game show, just for the memories.
This was our first offensive play of the game.
During the first quarter, all of my fellow Trojans, who were sitting around yours truly, were probably wondering, "What's going on here?" That's when Kelly and I decided to move over to the section where my grandson Zane was sitting with his friends.
Almost immediately after we sat down in our new seats next to Zane, USC's Tyler Petite scored a touchdown! Our friends asked, "Why didn't you come here sooner?"
Here are the friends we sat with--- Cristian, Janelle, Violet, Mateo, and Robert.
Near the end of the game, Kelly, Zane, Cristian, Mateo, and I moved down to the second row next to the USC Football Team exit staircase. That is where the three boys hoped to get a game glove or sweatband from a USC player.
