The USC campus was bustling with people. The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books was set up in the center of the campus. Trojan Candy and my husband Jim arrived at 10:00 am to walk around the Festival of Books. It was already hot. We entered the Merle Norman Stadium at 11:30 am for our 1:00 pm match versus Cal Poly. The Bruins were playing Cal Poly before us.
After the Bruin-Cal Poly match was over, the Beach Volleyball Senior Salute started. Trojan Candy saw that USC's five Seniors were standing together, waiting for their families to meet them at the entrance. Naturally, I asked them to pose for me, and they did!
Sara's large family joined her and the coaches on the sand. I hope that I identified everyone correctly. In the back row were coach Ali, grandpa Loal Lorenzen, grandpa Roger Frost, older brother Connor, father Rory and coach Dain. In the front row were older sister Lauren, grandma Susan Frost, Sara, mom Laura and coach Anna.
Trojan Candy was able to take this picture of the five Seniors, some of their families, coaches Anna and Dain, and, at the far right, Senior Associate Athletic Director Donna Heinel.
It was difficult moving further back to get everyone in the picture, because there were so many people taking pictures that standing further back would also include the people taking pictures. A big "thank you" to friend Donna Heinel for telling others to let "Trojan Candy" take a picture.
The Bruins won on Court 1. Then Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer won on Court 2. Now, we were tied 1-1 with the Bruins.
The next three pairs took the courts.
Sophie Bukovec and Allie Wheeler won on Court 2 to put USC ahead 2-1.
Trojan Candy took two videos near the end of the match.
