Luckily, the flight, that my daughter Kelly and oldest grandson Zane took from San Francisco to Los Angeles, landed right on time. Trojan Candy picked them up at LAX, and we were off to USC's football practice.
We arrived on campus and Trojan Candy was able to take many pictures of the football players as they walked out of the John McKay Center and headed across the street to the practice. Needless to say, many of the pictures include Zane with the player. What else is a proud Grandma suppose to do!
The first picture Trojan Candy took was of friend Cody Temple (5/3/2012) with his son Tyson. Tyson was born in April. Another "Trojan to Be!" Congratulations and FIGHT ON, Cody!
After talking with Cody, the players started emerging from the John McKay Center rather quickly. No one wants to be late to practice.
Now, the players walked even faster up the ramp. Practice was starting soon!
Once the practice started, Kelly, Zane and I went to dine on campus. After dinner we rushed back to see the rest of the practice.
The practice ended with an exciting scrimmage. Both the offense and defense played HARD!
After the practice ended, Trojan Candy was able to photograph my grandson Zane with more players and friends.
With that, we said, "Good Night!"
FIGHT ON, to the entire USC Football Team!
A great Trojan legend passed away this morning. Trojan Candy was so fortunate to meet Frank Gifford. He and I attended the 2012 USC Student-Athlete Graduation Ceremony. Mr. Gifford came for his son Cody's USC graduation. When I approached Mr. Gifford to hopefully take his picture, we spoke about his son for a few minutes. He was so cordial and smiled for this picture.
Almost two years later my husband Jim and I mailed Mr. Gifford his Heritage Hall Medallion in February, 2014. He was gracious enough to send me a picture of himself holding his Medallion.
What a thoughtful, caring and magnificent Trojan!
FIGHT ON forever, Frank!
Trojan Candy read the contents of Sydney Seau's interview after the NFL Hall of Fame ceremony in Canton, Ohio, yesterday, August 8, in today's Los Angeles Times article by Kevin Acee. Sydney, the daughter of USC's Junior Seau, spoke with an "open and sincere heart." She said, "Dad, you gave us your time, your presence, your love, but most of all, you gave us your heart. I know at times it seemed as if everything you accomplished in your life wasn't enough, but today and every day since the first time you held me in your arms, you were more than just enough. You were everything." About her father being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Sydney said, "I know that his athleticism and talent made him extraordinary enough to make it in the Hall, but it is his passion and heart that make him truly legendary and deserving of this tremendous honor." Truer words were never spoken!
Trojan Candy met and interviewed Sydney in Heritage Hall when she was a Freshman at USC in 2012 (9/27/2012). She played on the inaugural Women of Troy Sand Volleyball Team. I also met her younger brother Hunter Tiaina (3/16/2013) at a Sand Volleyball match.
It was so lucky that I was able to meet Sydney and Hunter.
FIGHT ON, Sydney!
FIGHT ON, forever, Junior!
Two of Trojan Candy's grandsons love USC football. Zane is nine and Kane is five. The boys live up north and were able to attend the San Francisco 49'ers Open House today. There was a practice and then some players signed autographs for the kids.
Zane and Kane were on special alert for any Trojans who play on the 49'ers.
Luckily, two Trojans signed autographs on my grandson's mini-helmets.
