Women of Troy Tennis Coach Alison Swain gave me permission to go onto the court to take pictures for today's Senior Day Celebration. The entire team was warming up for the upcoming match against Maryland. Five team members posed for me for this picture. The players were Simone Kay, Jana Hossam, Immi Haddad, Grace Piper, and Anya Murthy.
Now, it was time for the Senior Salute.
My husband Jim took this video of the entire celebration from the stands.
The first Senior introduced was Parker Fry with her parents Speed and Melissa Fry. Parker transferred to USC as a junior and she was an instant impact addition. She contributed heavily to the Trojans’s success in doubles play. Congratulations, Parker!
The second Senior introduced was Sloane Morra and her parents David and Elizabeth Morra. Sloane’s sister Cameron was also introduced. Sloane is a three-time ITA Scholar athlete and a repeat on the conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. This season, Sloane has played at the No. 2 Doubles Spot with Jana Hossam.Congratulations, Sloane!
The third Senior introduced was Princetown graduate transfer Maia Sung. Maia is escorted today by her parents Doris and Gene Sung and sister Maddy. Maia has been clutch for the Trojans this season, clinching three matches for the Trojans and tallying 15 singles wins. She has been named a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and has earned Academic All-Ivy honors. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in entrepreneurship and innovation at USC. Congratulations, Maia!
Our final senior is Grace Piper, who is escorted today by her parents Neil and Annalise Piper. She is a four-year Trojan starter who has tallied more that 80 doubles wins at USC and has clinched seven matches for the Women of Troy, including two this season. As a senior, Grace and her partner Lily Fairclough have been ranked in the top ten in doubles all spring and have tallied a team leading 21 doubles wins. Grace has earned All-Conference First Team accolades in 2024, as well as the team’s “most improved award.” Congratulations, Grace!
Now it is time for the Singles competition.
Trojan Candy thought I took pictures of the rest of our team. However, on Court 2, I missed Emma Charney whose score was 3-6, 5-3. Sorry, Emma.
